Tarsier

Accdng to Wiki: Tarsiers are haplorrhine primates of the genus Tarsius, a genus in the family Tarsiidae, which is itself the lone extant family within the infraorder Tarsiiformes. Although the group was once more widespread, all the species living today are found in the islands of Southeast Asia. At yan ay sa Pilipinas.. :)

I have some bits of info to share about it, na ni-share din sa amin ng aming tour guide, kuya Ondoy. 


Una, kung ang coffee may 3-in-1, ang Tarsier daw may 5-in-1. Pinagsama-samang 5 body parts ng 5 hayop. Ano-ano ito:


Ears - from bats
Eyes - from owls; at mas malaki ang mga mata nila kesa sa kanilang brains
Body - from monkeys 
Tail - from rats
Feet - from frogs


They are insectivores. Like nila ang crickets. Tallest tarsier ay umabot lang ng 5 inches. They have peripheral vision. Naiikot nila ang mga ulo nila 180 degrees. Lifespan nila ranges from 25-30 years. Pregnancy takes 6 months lang. The're able to conceive just one baby per year. Breeding season nila from november to january. Ang baby tarsier kasing laki ng thumb. Sa courting, si girl tarsier ay iihi sa branch ng isang puno. Maamoy ito ni boy tarsier. Pag type nya ang smell, lalawayan daw nya ang spot kung saan umihi si girl tarsier at yun, sila na! Their lovemaking usually lasts from 3-5 secs lang. May suicidal tendencies ang mga tarsier, lalo na pag di nila feel ang paligid nila. They bang their heads until they're dead. Sensitive kasi ang mga skull nila. 


Weird, crazy tarsiers.. :p


Pahabol lang: pag binisita nyo sila, make sure di kayo maingay at kung kukuhanan nyo sila ng picture, make sure walang flash.. Pag nabulabog sila, nangangagat sila.. Small but terrible!
